whaT we believe
In ESSENTIAL beliefs – we have UNITY.
“There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all” (Ephesians 4:4-6).
In NON-ESSENTIAL beliefs – we have LIBERTY.
“Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to dispute over doubtful things . . . Who are you to judge another’s servant? To his own master, he stand or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand . . . So then each of us shall give account of himself to God . . . Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves” (Romans 14:1,4,12,22).
In ALL our beliefs – we show LOVE.
“And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing” (I Corinthians 13:2).
We believe the Bible to be true in every way and to be the one true guide for our lives.
We believe in the Trinity – that there is one God, who has revealed Himself as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
We believe Jesus is God and that He became a man and was born of a virgin. We believe He lived a sinless human life and then died for our sins. We believe He came alive again after His death and is now in heaven. We believe He will one day return to this earth in power and glory.
We believe that each human being must receive the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ in order to live forever in heaven with God after he or she dies. God gives eternal life to those who are sorry for their sins, willing to turn away from them, and completely trust in Jesus to save them from sin’s punishment.
We believe that everyone dies once and they will face their Creator.
We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit who shows us when we sin, helps us to turn from sin to godly living, and empowers us for Christian service.
We believe that the church was created by Jesus and that He is its leader.
We believe that one day all people will spend eternity in either heaven or hell.
In addition, we also hold these Core Values:
We believe that God has not rejected Israel. Therefore, for the sake of God, we offer friendship, support and prayer for the Jewish people throughout the world.
We believe that God ordained marriage between one man and one woman.
We believe in the sanctity of human life and that life begins at conception.
Faith Bible Chapel International began as a small gathering of believers in a home in north Denver. The year was 1965 and, yes, the four families who began it incorporated the church with the word “International” in the name, even with only a few dozen people meeting in a small suburban home. Shortly, they moved to a church building in Arvada and – when busting at the seams – made the radical transition to a building in downtown Denver. The space at 9th & Acoma afforded more room to grow while also fueling the burning desire to change lives through the power of Jesus Christ beyond our immediate neighborhood.
From its humble beginnings, Faith has always been about the lives of real people. Some hurting, some broken, all imperfect. We’ve always been about encountering the love of Christ, uncovering the power of God’s Word, incorporating the transformative nature of worship and relying on the power of the Holy Spirit.
Eventually, needing more space and acquiring the property we’re on today, we built the East Campus and – years later – the West Campus, which includes the Family Worship Center where we experience the passion and joy of Sunday services. This is where generations from age 8 to more than 88 gather together to worship.
Today, Faith Church is the children's volunteer, giving up her Sunday to share a favorite Bible story, the youth leader – up after midnight – guiding a future leader through the chaos of modern culture. It’s the pastor helping broken parents find true love again. It’s the person bringing her sick neighbor a warm meal and encouraging smile. It’s the mom and it’s the dad, leading by following Jesus so their little ones can grow into world changers.
Through it all, the message of God’s love is brought to the northwest Denver area and to the most remote corners of our world. Nepal, Australia, Spain, Kazakhstan, Thailand and Israel. We love the world because God loves the world.
Now, more than 50 years later, it’s not only a half-century of existence, but a half-century of changed lives. A half-century of restoration found in Christ-centered community. God has truly done more than we could have ever asked. And He’s just getting started.
